Summary:

If you spend a lot of time outside with your child in a wrap or carrier, even when it's raining or windy, this jacket is a great investment. You can wear it when you're pregnant and when you're wearing your baby in the front or with your baby in the back. Great quality, I love the sporty but feminine design. Hoodie for mama & hoodie for baby!

Mamalila All-weather jacket

Mamalila is a German brand with different coats, covers and accessories for babywearing parents who want (or need) to go outside under all weather conditions. If you have a dog for example, you usually can’t decide to stay inside just because it’s raining.

A babywearing coat can be the perfect way to keep your little one dry and warm.

The Mamalila All-weather jacket is available in different versions, for summer, winter and rain. It’s a softshell jacket which is waterproof and windproof. The winter version has a cosy fleece lining to keep you and your baby warm. There’s also a padded winter jacket.

The design is very nice, sporty but still feminine. Both the jacket and the insert have a hoody. Mama’s hoodie is detachable to keep it out of the way when you’re wearing your baby on your back. You can adjust the jacket on different spots, the bottom had a cord to pull tight and the insert can be adjusted. You can really keep all the water out if you’re both wearing the hoodies.

The insert is a prototype and you can spot a color difference. It doesn’t match 100%. I mainly used my jacket for back carries, and I was unsure about the hoody when my child was on my back.  I’m pretty flexible and I could reach up to the hoodie to put it on, but It’s much easier to ask some stranger (or your partner) to help you out. Putting the jacket on might take some practice but I think it’s easy. The hole for the head is big enough for my toddler so no need to open the zippers of the insert.

You can just hold the jacket in front of you, with the inside facing away from you, flip the jacket over your head and let your child’s head slip in the hole. Put your arms through the sleeves, zip up, that’s it!

I made a video to show how I put it on and take it off, you can also see how easy (or hard) it is to reach up to the hoody.

With a frontcarry I love the fact that the insert has a button to close between you & your child’s head. (you can see it in the video) This keeps the cold out of your cleavage 😉
The insert keeps your child sheltered from wind & rain, even my big toddler fits without any problems.

If you spend a lot of time outside with your child in a wrap or carrier, even when it’s raining or windy, this jacket is a great investment. You can wear it when you’re pregnant and when you’re wearing your baby in the front or with your baby in the back.

Mud and rain just slides off easily, you don’t need to be scared to use it 🙂 !

Sizing: be brave: buy a size smaller! I have a size S, where I would normally wear a size M or even M/L. And the size S is perfect for me.

You can buy the coat in the mamalila webshop.
