Summary:

These mermaids will make a perfect allround wrap. Perfectly soft for a newborn but supportive enough to use with a toddler. It's on the thinner side so you might prefer a multi layer carry with a heavier child.

PETITE SIRÈNE Prototype

Warp – 100% peruvian pima cotton ELS, Weft – 100% egyptian cotton

Linuschka is mainly known for high quality handwoven wraps, but they have been designing some machine woven wraps, too. Last year they released ‘Machaon’ (butterflies) and they are starting off 2014 with two new designs: owls and mermaids. At first, I didn’t fancy the mermaid design very much, but the first action pictures made me reconsider my thoughts. These mermaids weren’t released, this colourway and blend is a prototype. If natty is not for you, there were other colourways available at the release. The releases are very limited, they sell on www.linuschka.de and are announced on their Facebook page.

This natty wrap has Linuschka’s signature 100% peruvian pima cotton warp. Peruvian Pima cotton is an extra long staple (ELS) cotton, primarily grown in Peru. Pima cotton is shorter than egyptian cotton but it’s softer than normal cotton. The weft is 100% Egyptian Cotton and makes an even softer and stronger wrap.

The wrap arrived unwashed, out of the linuschka bag it was already soft. After the first wash it softened up even more. The mermaids weren’t my favorite design but in this low contrast colourway it looks so classy and I actually love it! It will be a perfect natty for summer!

The tester was a size 2 wrap (2.8m) and it is the perfect shorty! I tried different carries, whatever I could do with a size 2. I loved it in every single carry I tried, This wrap will be nice in every length, but I would love a shorty to take with me in my bag if I’m not wearing my little girl who just started walking.

These mermaids will make a perfect allround wrap. Perfectly soft for a newborn but supportive enough to use with a toddler. It’s on the thinner side so you might prefer a multi layer carry, but I used it in a RUB with my 15 kilogram toddler and I loved it! It’s light to wear, very airy and lovely for higher temperatures. The wrap has enough grip to stay in place in a knotless finish and the perfect amount of slide for a carry with a slipknot. The knots are small and it feels fluffy on your shoulders. Did you ever read about a wrap being like whipped ice cream? This one is like that. 😉 I really hope this wrap will be released, I’m in love!
